Operation Marco Polo

An operation proposed by Cmdr. Kal-L to put Raw_Beef and company to work[1]. Director Innocent_Bystander approved[2].

Operational Planning

Description: The ship is to reach Callisto's orbit, and get the body into sensor range long enough to get significant information from our installations there.

Conversely, our Callisto sensor facilities will undergo training exercises at the same time, to try and detect unflagged vessels, such as the Shrike, but will not be told there's an actual ship nearby.

Objective: To ascertain the readiness of the ship's crew and technology, for undercover recon operations, and the level of competency of Callisto's crew at keeping the necessary vigilance to stop hostile powers from gaining detailed sensor intel.

Prof. Snark added that the Shrike should follow a freighter after the initial exercise in order to practice stealthful tracking[3].

Performance

The Shrike was covertly loaded into the cargo hold of UNAS Aberdeen on February 2nd, 2034 for transport just outside of the Jupiter cordon. It arrived at the 250m km cordon on February 5th[4]. The Shrike powered down to 6% of its engine capacity for the approach and was detected but not identified on February 17th by the CONSOL DSTS on Callisto[5]. After the UN Field Office's fast contact, Prof. Snark issued a classified communique appraising the Callistan field office of the operation[6].

Outcome

Shortly after Prof. Snark updated the field office, Raw_Beef made landfall. He impersonated Prof. Snark and pierced a storage facility of missiles in order to obtain 30 Hornet missiles for the Shrike[7]. As a result of Raw_Beef's subsequent memo copping to the infiltration and theft[8], Innocent_Bystander immediately implemented security upgrades at all UNIN installations[9]. The UN was able to analyze the results of the operation for information on the Shrike's performance and on its crew's abilities[10].
