United Nations Science Administration
The United Nations Science Administration (UNSA) oversees all UN research programs as well as providing scientific council to other UN branches when necessary.
History
While the UNSA has existed since the conclusion of the 3rd world war it was not until the discovery of TN materials in 2025 that it assumed its current position as the single most influential scientific institution within the UN. As of 2033 it is comprised of a loose coalition of universities, commercial research firms and military laboratories with its members accounting for nearly 63% of all scientific and academic institutions within the UN.
Assets
In addition to it's affiliated institutions the UNSA directly administers and operates 32 large scale research facilities dotted throughout UN territories. These facilities are used solely for research projects that the UNEC believes to be critical to the UN's continued technological, industrial and military well-being.
Criticisms
There have been some concerns raised by more traditional academic institutions over the monolithic nature of the UNSA and it's almost de-facto control over all scientific inquiry within the UN. These concerns were reviewed by a committee of UN academic leaders in 2026 and were found to be unsubstantiated and reactionary. In fact as of 2030 many of the original dissenters had themselves joined the UNSA.
