Operation LABYRINTH is the UNIN codename for the campaign to pacify the Klondike-Kagayan system. Since UNIN is currently awaiting completion of research and training, LABYRINTH is still in the early planning stages.
Asteroid 151 is close to the K2 jump point and may be used for an ordnance depot. (BACARDI)
Assets
TG THESEUS - Monitors, Berlins, Delphi, and Capetowns
TG ARIADNE - Guams, Samars
TG ATHENIAN - Praetor, Panner, Samar
TG ARISTARCHUS - Aristarchus
Two Battalions of Mobile Infantry
Exact Ships and Units involved will be decided at the time of the Operation.
Objective
The objective of LABYRINTH is the destruction or incapacitation of the 4 alien Hoplite class ships (Code Name MINOTAUR) in orbit of Klondike VI (Code Name KNOSSOS) and securing the planet to search for alien installations or other defenses.
Operation
LABYRINTH will begin upon completion of the necessary ordnance and ships, and as the K2->Sol Jump Gate nears completion. TG ARISTARCHUS will close with KNOSSOS to verify location of MINOTAUR and remain on station as an observer. TG THESEUS and TG ARIADNE will transit in system and approach KNOSSOS from the jump point to move into a leading orbit at approximately 20m km or until detected. THESEUS will close to withing 20m km of MINOTAUR and engage with all primary weapons while pulling away at maximum speed. As ships exhaust their ordnance they will begin reloading from ARIADNE to reengage. Fire will continue until all enemy vessels are disabled or destroyed. TG ARIADNE will then reload the task group from its magazines and withdraw to Sol. TG THESEUS will then close with KNOSSOS for active sweep for additional defenses or ground units. Bombardment from low yield weapons will clear the surface in preparation for ground landing.
Once all enemy vessels are mission killed, TG ATHENIAN will enter KNOSSOS orbit and perform a geo-scan of the surface. In the event that alien ruins or remnant defenses exist, UN Mobile Infantry will land to secure the site until specialists can arrive. At this point LABYRINTH can be declared complete by transmission of the signal WHITE SAILS.
Should THESEUS fail to inflict sufficient observed damage with initial bombardment, the operation will hold until additional remote ordnance can be delivered and deployed. In the unlikely event that MINOTAUR closes with and destroys THESEUS, the code BLACK SAILS will signal withdrawal from Klondike-Kagayan.
Logistics
Reccomended loadouts: Calculated assuming roughly 7000kps closing speed from the alien vessels.
Gibraltar: FC range 82.8m km. -76x S6 missiles. 24 minutes sustained fire in which the aliens will close 10.1 million km. -OR 114x S4 missiles. 36 minutes sustained fire in which the aliens will close 15.2 million km.
Berlin IIM: FC range 20.5m km. -37x S6 misiles. 52 minutes sustained fire in which the aliens will close 21.84 million km.
Berlin IIS: FC range 20.5m km. -180x S1 missiles, 9x S4 missiles. 9 minutes sustained fire.
Capetown: FC range 21.6m km. -13x S4 missiles, 1x S1 missile. 14 minutes sustained fire.
Samar IIb: FC range 19.1m km. -35x S1 missiles. 3.5 minutes sustained fire.
The K2 excursion force is currently projected to be: 6 Gibraltar-B, 4 Berlin IIM, 6 Capetown-B, 4 Samar IIB, 4 Surigao, 1 Praetor, 1 Panner, 9 Guam, 3 Delphi.
To fully outfit the force using the missiles and loadouts outlined here requires:
604x Denel SSM-13A "Harrier" ASM (5.35BP)
60x Denel SSM-11B "Eagle-B" ASM (3.565BP)
286x MBDA SVM-6D "Hornet-D" Multipurpose Missile (0.9BP)
Giving a total build cost of 3703 BP.
Project Labyrinth Projections:
As of 21 Jan when we can start producing the first missiles we will have a total of 516 Ordnance factories giving 6450BP/year. This will continue to rise to 632 by the start of march giving 7900BP/year.
Total BP cost for the required missile build is approx 3700BP. We should have a complete loadout by the start of July. Transit time to Combat positions in K2 for our fleet is approx 25 days depending on planetary alignments.
Expected date of commencement of hostilities is late July 2037. UNIN should endeavour to have all the necessary fleet elements recalled to Earth and prepared by mid June.
